LAB FOR ARCHITECTURAL THINKING
Interface. Structure. Façade.
About LATH
LATH (Lab for Architectural Thinking) is an independent research platform focused on performance-informed façade systems and interface-constrained structural frameworks.
The platform examines how structural load paths, joint behavior, anchoring conditions, and fabrication tolerances influence architectural systems at early decision stages. Rather than resolving conflicts downstream through detailing, LATH formalizes interface constraints as primary variables in structural grammar and geometric adaptation.
Research is developed through bounded case studies, computational modeling, and fabrication-aware investigations, with current emphasis on timber façade systems.
LATH documents and develops methodological research at the intersection of structural behavior, interface constraints, and architectural systems.

Juste Tresor Gatari is a licensed architect with academic training in structural engineering and architecture. His work focuses on performance-informed façade systems and the formalization of interface constraints in early-stage architectural decision frameworks.
He has contributed to high-rise and mixed-use developments in the United States, with particular involvement in façade coordination and structural integration. His current research investigates interface-constrained structural grammars, tolerance-driven load-path reorganization, and fabrication-aware system development, with an emphasis on timber façade applications.
He holds degrees in architecture and structural engineering and is engaged in advanced research at ETH Zurich.
